Es diente neben dem Schwimmsport auch der Hygiene und dem Wohlbefinden der Bev\u00f6lkerung. So befanden sich neben Wannenb\u00e4dern auch Dampfb\u00e4der im Bad.<\/p>\n<p>Bei einem Bombenangriff im April 1945 wurde das Bad schwer besch\u00e4digt, die Schwimmhalle war v\u00f6llig zerst\u00f6rt und das stra\u00dfenseitige Geb\u00e4ude hatte erhebliche Dachsch\u00e4den. Als reiner Zweckbau wurde der Schwimmhallenteil in den 50er Jahren wieder aufgebaut und das Dach notd\u00fcrftig geflickt.<\/p>\n<p>Noch in den 1980er Jahren kamen Einwohner der Altstadt, die kein eigenes Bad hatten, regelm\u00e4\u00dfig in die Badeanstalt zum &#8222;Bad am Samstagabend&#8220;.<\/p>\n<p>Ende der 1990er Jahre wurde zun\u00e4chst der Betrieb eingeschr\u00e4nkt &#8211;
